TL;DR: Bastion Remnant is the ruined Piglin fortress made of blackstone and gold trim. Four flavors — Treasure, Hoglin Stables, Bridge, Housing Units — and each wants you dead in a different way. Loot is among the best in the game.
What's actually here
Four variants:
- Treasure Bastion: central gold-block tower with Pigsteel chests. Richest single loot pile in the game, but mostly slabs over lava.
- Hoglin Stables: Hoglins, Piglins, Brutes. Mid-tier loot. Hoglins are farmable.
- Bridge: long bridge over open lava with a "head" structure at the end. Easy to fall off.
- Housing Units: multi-story Piglin barracks. Most enclosed, hardest to navigate.
Mobs: Piglins (hostile if no gold), Piglin Brutes (always hostile, gold doesn't help), Hoglins in stables variants. Loot: Pigsteel ingots, Smithing Templates, Enchanted Books, Ancient Debris, golden apples, obsidian.
Strategy notes
Wear gold (helps with regular Piglins, not Brutes). Have an escape plan before you enter — Bastions are over open lava. Pearl in — Ender Pearl into the interior skips half the perimeter combat. Loot a chest, run, repeat — don't try to clear a Bastion. Bastions are wars of attrition; patience wins.
Lore color
Bastions are old. Older than your portal, older than the Fortress next door, older than whatever the Fossils used to be. The Piglins didn't build them yesterday — these are Remnants, the game tells you so in the name.
Spawn / find it
Most often in Crimson Forest, Nether Wastes, Basalt Deltas. Cannot generate in Warped Forest or Soul Sand Valley. Rarer than Fortresses.
Common mistakes
- Walking in without gold armor (regular Piglins swarm)
- Assuming gold armor protects from Brutes
- Engaging in the open courtyard instead of pearling
- Mining gold blocks before clearing the room (angers all Piglins)
- Trying to fight on slab floors over lava (one knockback ends you)
