TL;DR: Crimson Forest is the red biome with the giant fungal trees and the angry pig people. It's loud, it's beautiful, it's the second-most-dangerous biome to walk into unprepared. You come for Crimson Stems and to barter with Piglins. You leave because a Hoglin found you.
The first time you step into Crimson Forest, the sound hits before the visuals do. The biome has this constant low hum — fungus particles drifting, distant Hoglin grunts, the wet snap of Weeping Vines. Then your eyes catch up: red everywhere. Crimson Stems towering over you like trees that forgot to be trees, Nether Wart blocks clumped like coral, Shroomlights glowing where leaves should be.
What's actually here
Dense terrain — you can't see fifteen blocks without a Crimson Stem in the way. Hoglins spawn in pairs and trios on Crimson Nylium. Piglins spawn here and attack on sight unless you're wearing gold armor. Crimson Stems harvest as wood. Nether Wart Blocks decorate. Shroomlights are the second-best light source. Crimson Fungi breed Hoglins and grow giant Crimson trees with bone meal.
Strategy notes
Wear gold. One piece. Helmet, boots, doesn't matter — Piglins read the slot, not the rarity. Hoglins are afraid of Warped Fungi and Nether Portals — place a Warped Fungus block and they back off. Don't sprint — too dense to sprint safely.
Lore color
The Crimson Forest is what the Nether sounds like when it's still alive. Most of the dimension is bone and ash and silence — but here, something grows. The fungi don't behave like plants; they pulse, almost. Shroomlights flicker on a rhythm that doesn't quite match yours.
Spawn / find it
Large continuous patches usually adjacent to Nether Wastes or Soul Sand Valley. Fly along Y=128 ceiling and look for red. Bastion Remnants generate here.
Common mistakes
- No gold armor → six Piglins
- Sprinting into a Hoglin pair around a blind corner
- Punching a Crimson Stem with bare hands (slow — bring an axe)
- Trying to grow trees from Crimson Fungi on Netherrack (won't work — needs Crimson Nylium)
- Leaving Crimson Nylium near your base (it spreads)
