Nethercon ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website nethercon.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it. We built this site for kids and their families, so we take privacy seriously.
Who Operates This Site
Operator: Brick30 LLC
Email: [email protected]
Postal address: available on request via email — write to the address above and we will provide it.
Brick30 LLC is the operator responsible for the collection and use of any information described in this policy. For any question, request, or concern — including the parental rights described below — email is the fastest way to reach us.
Plain-language summary: we do not sell your data. We do not create profiles on children. We run no analytics, offer no accounts and no newsletter, and comments are switched off across the whole site. Game progress lives only in your own browser. The only personal information we ever receive is what you choose to send us by email.
Children's Privacy (COPPA)
For parents and guardians. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), which applies to children under 13 in the United States.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The core site — articles, audio content, interactive maps, and the Ember companion — is fully available without creating an account or submitting any personal information.
There is no account system, newsletter signup, comment box, or contact form on the site, so there is no place on Nethercon for a child to submit personal information. If we ever discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information (for example, by email), we will delete it promptly. Parents or guardians who believe their child has submitted personal information should contact us at [email protected].
Parental rights include:
- The right to review any personal information we have collected from your child.
- The right to request deletion of that information.
- The right to refuse further collection of your child's information.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected] with the subject line "COPPA Request." We will respond within 30 days.
What Data We Collect
Analytics
We do not run analytics on this site. No Google Analytics, no page-view tracking, no session recording, no fingerprinting. If we ever add a privacy-focused analytics tool, we will disclose it here before it goes live.
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies. See our Cookie Policy for a full breakdown. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.
Comments
Comments and pingbacks are turned off across the entire site. There is nowhere on Nethercon to post publicly, and no comment data is collected.
Browser localStorage (not a cookie)
To save your progress in interactive site features (such as game elements or personalization), we store small amounts of data in your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
Newsletter
We do not currently offer a newsletter, and the site has no email signup of any kind. If we launch one in the future, it will be opt-in, restricted to users age 13 and older, and this policy will be updated before it goes live.
Messages you send us
If you contact us by email, we keep that message so we can respond to it. There is no contact form on the site, and we never add anyone to a mailing list.
EU Residents — GDPR
General Data Protection Regulation. If you are located in the European Union or European Economic Area, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Lawful basis for processing
- Site operation: Legitimate interests — our hosting provider processes standard server logs to keep the site secure and available.
- Contact inquiries: Legitimate interests — responding to messages you initiate.
Your rights under GDPR
- Right of access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Right to erasure: Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
- Right to restrict processing: Ask us to pause processing your data while a dispute is resolved.
- Right to data portability: Receive your data in a machine-readable format.
- Right to object: Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Right to withdraw consent: Where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days. If you believe we have not handled your data lawfully, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.
Data transfers: Nethercon is operated from the United States. If you access the site from the EU, your data may be processed in the US. We rely on standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards when required.
Retention: We hold no analytics data and no newsletter list, because neither exists. Email messages you send us are retained for up to 2 years.
California Residents — CCPA
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) grants you specific rights regarding your personal information.
We do not sell personal information. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We do not share data in exchange for money or other valuable consideration.
Your California rights:
- Right to know: Request disclosure of personal information collected, sold, or disclosed in the past 12 months.
- Right to delete: Request deletion of personal information we hold about you, subject to legal exceptions.
- Right to opt-out: We do not sell data, so no opt-out is necessary. If this changes, we will update this policy.
- Right to non-discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights.
To submit a CCPA request, email [email protected] with the subject line "CCPA Request."
Third-Party Services
We may use the following types of third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:
- Hosting provider: Our web host processes server logs, which may include IP addresses for security and reliability purposes.
- Fonts: Pages load typefaces from Google Fonts, so your browser requests font files from Google's servers; Google may log that request (including your IP address) under its own privacy policy. No other third-party requests are made from kid-facing pages.
- Nothing else: No email platform, ad network, analytics service, or affiliate network is in use. There are no affiliate links on the site today — if that ever changes, our Disclosure page will say so first.
We do not embed social media widgets, advertising networks, or retargeting pixels on this site.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
